After the historical boulders and the boulders from the steppes, here is the third chapter about bouldering in Argentina.
Steppes and lakes are two of the main views of Bariloche region. The last is the mountains.
So there we go for this last chapter.
20 minutes by bus, two ski lifts and 10 minutes walk and we get to ther ridge of the Cerro Cathedral. Incredible views of the volcanoes (Lanin, Tronador, Puntiagudo...) with their shinning glaciers.
Cedric trekking to the Frey valley
A two hours walk on this ridge and you will get to the Frey valley.
Some nice boulders on the bottom of the valley, in front of fantastics red granit spires.
Alex Chabot Crack climbing on M2 spire, Frey valley
Chris Lindner repeated some classics meanwhile Alex Chabot started some boulders over water crash pad.
The fresh mountain air is a great opportunity to escape from the very warms days of the steppes.
At the end of the day, an half an hour walk leads us to the Frey hut, on the coast of the lake.
Chris Lindner on the Frey Valley boulders
This hut is the meeting place of all the climbers and alpinists, sorry andinists of Bariloche.
Pizzas are famous, beef steacks too, and the whole food comes in huge portions.
After 3 or 4 bottles of wine, we felt asleep...
The following day we wanted to go to the boulders of the Van Ditter valley, in front of the hut.
One hour from the hut lands hundreds of problems in a place recently discovered.
But the Alex and Cedric couldn't resist the red granit spire call and went for some multi pitches routes on trad style cracks.
Alex Chabot testing "Mate"
We left to others the opportunity of discovering more ahead the Van Ditter's bouldering place. The place seems to merit the two hours walk from the valley.
Chris Lindner "Cowboy or Gaucho" horse riding in Cuyin Manzano
In a three weeks trip, we tried to have an overview of bouldering, sportclimbing, multipitches routes of Bariloche region but also to enjoy other outdoor opportunities of the place such as rafting, kayaking, horse riding, trekking....
We'll need a rest after those hollydays and we just did a very few part of all the possibilities that offers Bariloche.
