Second International Festival “Khan Tengri 2003”

Second International Festival “Khan Tengri 2003” for amateurs of extreme sports will take place during the period July 17 – August 07 2003 in the heart of Central Tien-Shan near the foothill of peak Khan Tengri (7010 m).

The organizer of Festival is travel company Asia Tourism LTD, specializing in climbing and trekking in the region.

The First Festival “Khan Tengri” took place in 2000 and has made a very strong impression on visitors and participants of the action. Positive responses and words of gratitude from all over the world have inspired employees and management of the company to carry out the next - Second International Festival “Khan Tengri 2003”. In the future the Festival will be held once every 3 years.

The agenda of the Festval:

• Ascent to peak Khan Tengri (7010 m) from North
• Ascents to peak Khan Tengri (7010 m) from South, Pobeda peak (Victory peak 7349 m), Marble Wall paek (6400 m)
• High-speed climb to Khan Tengri (7010 m) from North (with prize fund of $3000)
• Opening of a new classical route to Khan Tengri (7010 m) from the North
• Paragliding from Khan Tengri top (Vladimir Karataev, Russia)
• Baloon tours
• Ski-tour
• Heli-skiing
• Slide show of famous climbers;
• Bards guitar and singing
• White water rafting
• Mountain bicycles

During the same period there will be other event held – the International Festival of Rescue Services, organized by Almaty city Akimat (Major), Rescue Service of Almaty city.
