Travel across Kamchatka in search of bouldering Part 1 One fine day having looked the weather forecast for some days forward, we decided to get to volcanoes area to have a good bouldering. And wasn't it good, eh? It took us about two hours to get under volcanoes because the last cyclone strongly washed away road along a “dry small river”, therefore we could move forward creeping as a turtle. By 12.00 we were under Koryaksky volcano (3456m), and all the day we mastered new bouldering problems there. And climbing there was rather interesting indeed: fine cracks and very sloping edges in places. While we was enjoying climbing the rocks, some guys from our company had time for downhill skiing as there was a lot of snow above 2050m after the cyclone. A group of German tourists, that we met, was ascending the volcano. And their eyes were popping out with surprise when they saw the following: a man passed them skiing down the slope at reckless speed and then took off skiing boots, put on rocky shoes and climbed boulders. The Germans wondered our merry-go-round of entertainment and went further, and we continued our hard business: adrenaline extraction from snow and rocks activities. For the first two days we could
send about ten new boulder problems, graded approximately from 6à up
to 7b +.
Next day, having got up at about 12.00, we decided to change climbing area for developing of new rocks and began to pack our belongings. We headed to the area under Mutnovsky volcano. There are a lot of many volcanic bombs there, therefore climbing promised to be very interesting. We got there towards evening, set a camp and fell to sleep soon as were very tired after the long way. We had luck and could summit the volcano (weather favored!). In two hundred meters up to the top, completely unexpected we came across fragments of the plane broken in 50th years there. Having reached the foot of the volcano we headed to look the most beautiful 90 meter-falls breaking in "Opasny (Dangerous)" canyon. We climbed a little in that area and then went back. In the evening we were ready to go to the more interesting area - Ganalsky Mountain ridge (Ganalskye Vostryaki).
